Greetings from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Georgetown University! Springtime in the admissions world typically finds our staff focused on connecting with students and counselors on campus and in communities throughout the world. In 2020, the environment around COVID-19 has changed the ways in which we connect with our admitted and prospective Hoyas. Zoom gatherings have replaced open house weekends and we are greeting juniors online! While our methods have changed, please know that we are more excited and committed than ever to creating a pathway to Georgetown. We look forward to staying in touch and to offering our guidance and support to you and your students. Stay healthy and safe. Hoya Saxa!
Admitted Students: On March 20th, Georgetown released regular decision admissions decisions for the Class of 2024. Admitted students have engaged with the Hoya community through online sessions focused on topics ranging from academic life, to financial aid, to extracurricular life on the Hilltop. Please encourage your students to visit our Admitted Student Website, talk to faculty and current students on Zoom and to connect with their Admissions Officer or Financial Aid Counselor for assistance.Waiting List Students: Applicants who accepted a place on the waiting list will be informed of their status by May 15. It is not possible to offer an estimate for chances of admission because the waiting list is not ranked in advance. The chart below, which was sent to all students who were offered a place on the waiting list, provides admission rates from the past six years.
Please visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on our website for vital COVID-19 related updates for prospective and admitted students, as well as counselors. These announcements, which touch on areas ranging from AP and IB credit to our standardized testing requirements, are updated continually as Georgetown's policies in this uncertain environment continue to evolve.
While we wait for Georgetown's campus to reopen for visitors, please encourage your juniors to view our virtual campus tour. In the coming weeks, an online information session and student-led tour will become available on our website. In addition to gaining valuable insight into the academic and extracurricular life of the university, admissions officers will be available to answer questions in a live Q&A following each of these planned sessions.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions was pleased to release admission decisions to college guidance counselors again this year via Slate.org. This portal, which is offered free of charge to high schools, also allows counselors to to upload waiting list updates, student transcripts, and any other helpful information directly into student files.
